October 2013- Week 4

ORGANIZATION SKILLS

I would say that this week was somewhat effective. I did a few planning things, but didn’t get the chance to start the create stage.

COMMUNICATION WITH SUPERVISOR

I had my fourth meeting with my supervisor this week. We discussed a lot about the Progress Exhibition, which will be happening next month. I also asked about a few things regarding both the plan and create stage.

INFORMATION

This week, I had all my dummy cakes delivered. Though however, they were all the wrong size. I ordered 6, 8, 10, 13, 15 inch, but they thought it was in centimeters. And so, I had to contact the store again and had to return it. They said that they would deliver the dummy cakes based on the sizes I wanted next week. I also justified all my techniques for each cake, like using only royal icing and gum paste, and the like. I am expecting my online orders to be delivered and planning to start my create stage next week. 

October 2013- Week 3

ORGANIZATION SKILLS

This week was a week where I finally got the chance to focus on my personal project again. This being said, this week was indeed effective.

COMMUNICATION WITH SUPERVISOR

I didn’t communicate with my supervisor.

INFORMATION

This week, I purchased all the things I need off Amazon. So, all silver luster, silicone mold, dragees, and cutters are purchased. I also made the templates for each of my cakes. For the fairytale cake, especially, I watched the whole Cinderella 1950 movie and took screenshots along the way that tells the major key events of the story.

This week was again not very effective. I spent half of the week on vacation and so had very little time to focus on my PP.

COMMUNICATION WITH SUPERVISOR

I didn’t communicate with my supervisor.

INFORMATION

This week, I only managed to get some orders. I also added some more materials that I need from amazon.

October 2013- Week 1

ORGANIZATION SKILLS

This week wasn’t a very effective week. I barely did anything related to PP, due to the hectic assignments at school.

COMMUNICATION WITH SUPERVISOR

I didn’t communicate with my supervisor.

INFORMATION

Apart from school works, I managed to order my materials off from amazon. I haven’t checked out the cart, but I added most of my materials in already. I also tried to contact the dummy shop, as I didn’t have time to go this weekend. Though I didn’t get any response, I am planning to visit the store next week. At IPS, I baked Cheese Layer Cake and decorated it with buttercream. During this decorating part, I again practiced my cake decorating skills with buttercream. First, in covering the cake. I encountered a few problems, especially with the crumbs of the cake. However, I managed to get the crumbs off by applying more pressure to the tip of spatula with buttercream. The rest of the process in finishing the cake went beautiful.
